Abstract:
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an important aspect of education. Numerous benefits of using ICT in education have been unearthed therefore; ICT should be widely used in teaching. However, in order to use ICT, TVET teachers have to have certain level of confidence. They have to be prepared to use ICT in their learning /teaching activates. In relation to that, this study sought to identify TVET trainee teachers‘ competence in using ICT. A test was developed to measure the basic ICT skills of TVET trainee teachers, teachers from Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. The respondents comprised of 40 trainee teachers of Technical Trainers College (TTC) in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh and 30 trainee teachers of Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh. The finding shows that Bangladesh TVET trainee teachers have average level of ICT skills and Saudi TVET trainee teachers have competence in basic ICT skills less average standard of using ICT according to IUT assessment standards (IUT CALANDAR, 2012).
The study also showed a significant difference in the level of basic ICT skills of TVET trainee teachers among two countries
