Abstract:
The necessity of new or alternative power sources gives rise to the fuel cells which can be sustainable energy sources. The research and development in the area of fuel cells are becoming popular day by day due to their various advantages. But the conversion process needs to be modified to connect the fuel cells to the grid. The dc voltage from the cells should be efficiently converted to ac as the voltage gives higher amount of fluctuation. New types of inverters like Z-source inverters which are efficient, EMI noise free and employed to reduce the ac output voltage fluctuation can meet these demands. This type of inverters also eliminates the necessity of additional boost converters. This paper tries to develop an adaptive control mechanism of the Z-source inverters using DSP board (DS- 1104) so that a quality power from fuel cells can be supplied to the grid.
