dc.description.abstract | Recently, the world has been hit by the unprecedented novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic; and it has led to the utmost disruption to our educational systems and as per governmental rules and guidelines all the educational institutes should remain closed due to precautions of avoiding the spread of the virus. To tackle the current Coronavirus crisis and its impact on education, the educational institutes can use existing educational resources and explore innovative ways to reach out and interact with the learners using various online platforms and using online tools, thereby the online teaching-learning is thought out to be the best way to carry on the educational activities. This study was conducted to examine the major challenges faced by residential students of the Islamic University of Technology through online teaching-learning during COVID-19 pandemic. The study has utilized descriptive and quantitative methods to answer the research questions, objectives and to test the research hypothesis. Data was collected through questionnaires. Based on the data collected the different descriptive methods was used to identify the major challenges faced by residential students of the Islamic University of Technology through online teaching-learning during COVID-19 pandemic. From the results the study has concluded that the students face a lot of challenges and limitations such as: internet connection issues, electricity issues, technological equipment issues, online education inefficiency compared to face to face education, inability of students doing practical labs and indoor and outdoor events, and online teaching learning having less proficient conducting exam methods, furthermore, low levels of computer literacy by students and teachers, inefficient online teaching methods used by instructors, poor contents quality, lack of motivation to study, lack of a one unified standard online system to be used by all teachers and students and etc adopting new online education system during the pandemic. | en_US |
