dc.description Supervised by Dr. Nazmus Sakib Assistant Professor Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Islamic University of Technology (IUT) Board Bazar, Gazipur, Bangladesh. This thesis is submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, 2022. en_US
dc.description.abstract Gazipur is currently the largest city corporation among others in Bangladesh in terms of area and population. As it is commonly known as an industrial area, many people from rural areas are shifting to the urban area in hopes of a better lifestyle. This has caused an increase in the urban population which resulted in municipal waste generation and the need for more electricity supply in the household. In order the new requirements, proper waste management is required which would not only reduce the waste volume and also help in the production of electricity. This production of electricity will not only subsidize the electrical needs of the treatment plant but as well as to the local needs and possibly can supply them to the national power grid in the future. A brief comparison between incineration, RDF, and anaerobic digestion using Dulong’s method is done to determine the suitable waste to energy treatment for Gazipur City Corporation. Due to Covid-19 constraints data was taken from different secondary sources and analysis is done. As the waste composition for GCC is mainly organic waste, it is seen that anaerobic digestion can be a suitable alternative for waste management and energy production due to the high organic waste content. en_US
