Abstract:
Power Line Communication (PLC) has emerged as a promising technology that makes it easier for
smart grid infrastructure components to communicate with one another. Smart grids make it
possible for utility companies, consumers, and various devices connected to the grid to exchange
data in both directions by integrating cutting-edge information and communication technologies
with the existing power grid. This abstract gives an overview of power line communication in the
context of smart grids. It looks at the benefits, drawbacks, and applications of PLC to ensure that
smart grid operations communicate effectively and reliably. It also looks at the fundamental PLC
system protocols and techniques, such as access control mechanisms, error correction strategies,
and modulation schemes. The conclusion of the abstract emphasizes the potential of power line
communication to improve the functionality and resilience of smart grids, making it easier to
integrate demand response systems, advanced metering infrastructure, and renewable energy
sources.
