dc.description.abstract Heat generation has been a common phenomenon in different mechanical machines. Heat dissipation system thus has become more and more important for better performance and smooth running of the machine. The dissipation has to be not only efficient but also economical and shorter in size. Fins are extended surface which increases the surface area of the machine. This project focuses on two types of fins e.g. rectangular and cylindrical. The heat flow is simulated by the help of simulation software ANSYS 14.0. The rectangular fin is simulated then verified with the experimental result. Then cylindrical fin is simulated and results are compared with the rectangular fin results. Thus a generalized methodology is established and can be used to simulate and compare other types of fins en_US
