dc.description.abstract The main purpose of Ambient intelligence is to retrieve and use information from the surrounding environment to ensure optimized usage of electronic devices. In this project we have built distributed a wireless sensor network (WSN) to detect human presence, movement and environmental changes to control electronic devices automatically in order to prevent overuse of electronic devices and decrease wastage of electricity. The WSN was built with TelosB, a mote created by Memsic technology. It is composed of MSP430 microcontroller and CC2420 radio chip. We used TinyOS as the operating system to operate the motes. The programming language used in TinyOS is called NesC, a dialect of C. en_US
